Prior to hitting the song’s soft breakdown, Fuentes paused and a silence that the vocalist revealed was “the most quiet he’s heard any crowd” filled the concert hall, atypical to the vibe Pierce The Veil set for the majority of the night.Īfter putting the somberness to rest, Pierce The Veil rolled through “May These Noises Startle You In Your Sleep,” “Hell Above” and “Bulls In The Bronx” – all songs from 2012’s Collide With The Sky. The crowd welcomed the accoustic addition, yet the sentimental mood overwhelmed the near sold-out audience. The upbeat, yet sappy mood rolled into “Floral & Fading” and “Kissing In Cars,” a track written for Preciado’s friend’s wedding eight years ago and one that Pierce The Veil never played on tour before. In front of a crowd that clapped and cheered profusely, Pierce The Veil powered through “Caraphernelia,” which featured a guest appearance from I Prevail front man Eric Vanlerberghe dressed in a grey bear suit, and their fastest song to date, “Texas Is Forever,” before settling into a groove for “The Divine Zero.”Īn undoubtedly memorable performance began to take shape, especially for one audience member, with Vic Fuentes’ unique rendition of “Bulletproof Love.” The vocalist scanned the audience before selecting a lucky fan to bring up on stage, whom he serenaded with the band’s renowned love song. Upon dropping the curtain, the San Diego natives dove into their 14-song setlist, charged with an elaborate light show and powerful onstage smoke jets – nothing short of magnificent. Pierce The Veil’s entrance – a two minute long cartoon video displayed on a large white curtain depicting the band’s spaceship crash landing in the Queen City – brought tears of joy to a youthful audience. Yet, the post-hardcore veterans did it, and gave Charlotte a show to remember. It’s a task that seems fairly difficult considering the highs Pierce The Veil hit over the summer, including a “once in a lifetime tour” that presented the Southern Californian’s groundbreaking album Misadventures in its entirety. We want kids to walk away and say, ‘Wow, did you see that?’ We always try to think outside the box when it comes to playing shows.
We’re gonna do it! It’s about being creative and making a show that’s memorable. Prior to hitting the road for the band’s Made To Destroy tour, bassist Jaime Preciado promised his loyal fans the quartet would pull out all the stops to create an even more memorable show than tours past. There’s a first for everything and seemingly, each time Pierce The Veil steps on stage they unveil a never before seen – or in this case, heard – performance for their enthusiastic fanbase.
